Kwik Trip Drops Roller Grill Menu Item
Kwik Trip drops roller grill menu item to maximize sales by optimizing in-store space and improving customer experience with hot grab-and-go cases.

Kwik Trip, a Wisconsin-based retailer, is phasing out roller grills from all of its convenience stores, with the change set to take effect on September 21. The company will continue to sell hot dogs, Tornados, and other roller grill items, but they will be moved to hot grab-and-go cases.
According to Paul Servais, Vice President of Food Service, the decision to eliminate roller grills is part of the company’s effort to maximize sales by optimizing in-store space. Kwik Trip has tested the new format in a group of stores and found that it can sell more items from its hot grab-and-go cases than from a roller grill.
The move away from roller grills reflects the company’s effort to optimize in-store space. While roller grills have become synonymous with convenience stores, Kwik Trip plans to keep hot dogs, egg rolls, and other roller grill items even as it removes the stations from its stores.

Murphy USA, another major c-store chain, has already begun to phase out roller grills from its newer, larger store designs. A district manager for the company referred to roller grills as “dead space” last year.
Convenience stores remain a popular destination for grab-and-go food. According to a survey by sausage company Johnsonville, 71% of consumers viewed roller grills as “very important” or “extremely important” when choosing a c-store to visit just a few years ago.
Kwik Trip’s decision to phase out roller grills is a sign of the company’s effort to optimize its in-store space and offer customers a convenient shopping experience. The company plans to continue offering its popular food items, including hot dogs, egg rolls, and Tornados, in its hot grab-and-go cases.

These items will join other popular menu items, such as burgers, sandwiches, corndogs, and pizza, in the cases. Servais noted that the company has already tested the new format in a group of stores and seen positive results.
With the phase-out of roller grills set to take effect on September 21, Kwik Trip is poised to enter a new era of convenience and efficiency, one that prioritizes customer needs and optimizes in-store space.
In the end, the decision to phase out roller grills is a sign of Kwik Trip’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
