FedEx and DHL Expand Ecommerce Shipping Tools
FedEx and DHL enhance ecommerce shipping with new tools for seamless international trade and cross-border payments.

International shipping and cross-border payments dominated the new product releases for ecommerce merchants this week. FedEx Corp. introduced Global Trade Navigator, a suite of digital tools designed to simplify customs and trade compliance. The system includes Trade Planner, a self-service feature on FedEx.com that offers guidance without requiring a user login, and the Duty and Tax app for Shopify, which displays a duty and tax guarantee at checkout. FedEx also expanded its API capabilities to integrate product classifications, estimated duties and taxes, and regulatory information into merchant systems. Additionally, the Ship Manager feature lets customers review Harmonized System code classifications, customs values, and country-of-manufacture details directly within the platform.
AI Integration in Logistics and Payments
Logistics companies are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence to automate complex tasks. DHL Group and Alibaba.com have partnered to explore integrating DHL Global Forwarding’s services into Alibaba.com’s agentic AI platform, Accio. The first planned feature connects Accio to DHL’s quotation and booking capabilities, allowing businesses to obtain real-time freight forwarding quotes and evaluate shipping options. Separately, Ant International, which operates the Alipay+ wallet gateway, is collaborating with Visa and Mastercard to develop a new payments standard via AI agents. The partnership aims to establish how payment companies can verify agent identities and monitor their behavior.
Mastercard is advancing its strategy for AI-driven commerce with Agent Connect and an expanded Agent Suite for Merchants. Agent Connect provides a single integration point for merchants, AI agents, and digital platforms to transact. Merchants maintain control over their pricing, fulfillment processes, and brand experiences while deciding which AI environments to join. This infrastructure supports the broader shift toward automated purchasing decisions.
Agentic commerce—where software agents handle parts of the shopping process—is rapidly becoming a standard feature across different retail sectors. When a shopper interacts with a brand agent to find a product, the agent must have access to accurate inventory data and pricing, or the shopping experience breaks down. The recent launches from M11 Labs and Lightsage aim to solve this reliability problem. M11 Labs offers a platform that helps brands maintain agent accuracy and detect threats, while Lightsage provides infrastructure to evaluate agent performance and track where companies appear in search results.

Conversational Commerce and Social Shopping
Shopping experiences are moving from static product pages into conversational interfaces. Instacart introduced Clementine, an AI-powered grocery assistant now available across North America. The company also updated its Cart Assistant tool, which allows retailers to offer a branded, AI-driven shopping experience powered by their own catalogs. Amazon Ads partnered with OpenAI to enable advertising within ChatGPT, letting select U.S. advertisers engage with customers as they explore options and make decisions. Meanwhile, Mastercard and Flowcart are embedding card payments directly into WhatsApp-based commerce journeys in East Africa, allowing users to discover products and pay without leaving the chat.
Telesign and B2Metric have joined forces to enhance conversational commerce by combining predictive analytics with secure messaging APIs for WhatsApp and email. This partnership allows brands to identify critical shopping moments and engage customers through their preferred channels. By integrating B2Metric’s analytics with Telesign’s secure messaging, the collaboration aims to make conversational commerce more intelligent, secure, and scalable for businesses and consumers alike.
