E.l.f. Pop launches with a Norway-inspired scent

The debut collection, titled “Spicy Bundt Nice,” draws inspiration from winter scenes in Norway. The fragrance blends holiday spice cake, orange zest, cardamom, butter-cream frosting, cedarwood and musk, creating a sweet yet woody profile that aims to evoke cozy, festive moments.

Chief marketing officer Oshiya Savur explained that the line represents “our next bold leap as we stretch into new playgrounds and categories.” She emphasized that fragrance offers “a unique form of self-expression” and that body care can transform daily routines into “a ritual of self-care and indulgence.”

Product formats and price points

The line includes a fragrance mist and a body cream, each priced at $13. A travel-size kit containing both items sells for $12. All items carry vegan certification and are cruelty-free, reflecting the brand’s long-standing ethical stance and appealing to consumers who prioritize animal-friendly products.

Additional E.l.f. Pop scents are slated for release in January, expanding the range beyond the initial offering and signaling a broader commitment to the fragrance category.

Strategic implications for the brand

Entering the scent market allows the company to tap into a category that traditionally generates higher margins than makeup alone. By offering affordable, cruelty-free options, the brand targets shoppers seeking both value and ethical credentials.

Many cosmetics firms have broadened their portfolios to include fragrance, using scent lines to deepen brand loyalty and capture incremental spend. This move follows that pattern, positioning the brand to compete with established players while staying true to its low-price, inclusive image.

Future outlook

The company plans to roll out more fragrances after the January launch, suggesting a longer-term commitment to the category. If the limited-edition collection resonates with shoppers, steady growth in the new product segment could follow.

Analysts will likely watch sales data from the initial release to gauge consumer response, which will inform how aggressively the brand expands its scent portfolio.

Beyond the immediate launch, the introduction of E.l.f. Pop reflects a strategic shift toward diversifying product lines beyond traditional makeup. The brand’s history of delivering budget-friendly beauty solutions provides a foundation for this expansion, as consumers have come to expect both affordability and quality from its offerings.

The inclusion of notes such as cardamom and cedarwood aligns with current consumer interest in warm, comforting aromas, while the orange zest adds a bright, uplifting twist.
